Welcome to Integral Life Balance
(Home
of the Integral Vocalist and the Integral Teacher)!
I’m Clif
Ware, Professor Emeritus of Voice
at the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis (1970-2007). I appreciate
your taking time to visit this Web Site, and I hope you find
some interesting and helpful information.
The overall purpose of this Web Site is to
provide a wide range of information related to developing a principled,
comprehensive, balanced, and integrative approach to life, a
multifaceted personal challenge that involves:
-
Developing an awareness of the many opposites and paradoxes
we encounter in all aspects of life, as represented by
right brain-left brain, romanticism-classicism, liberalism-conservatism,
and Yin-Yang (female-male characteristics)
-
Identifying and acknowledging personal strengths and
weaknesses associated with the three principal areas of
body, mind, and spirit
-
Exploring and developing some effective integral life-coping
strategies that relate to the three major areas of self,
culture, and nature
-
Setting worthwhile, attainable goals and objectives that
are well thought out and planned, yet flexible and exciting
-
Following through with systematic, ongoing, constructive
practice and action
I've produced four publications based
on integrative, holistic concepts—three related
to singing, and one about aging. Links are provided for seeking
more information. I’ve also written an unpublished 800-page "background
self-study book" under the general title The Balanced
Life: An Integral Perspective, which provided the basic
material for my latest book—The Aging
Challenge: Making the Most of Life After 50. The
overall approach of this book, which is aimed primarily at persons
in the second half of life, presents a combination of self-help
and scholarly information derived from many reputable sources—plus
some memoir material inspired by reflecting on my 70-plus years
of life experience, including 50 years of professional experience
as a vocal performer and teacher.
The Integral Vocalist offers
information for anyone interested in the mind-body relationship
of voice to personality, and how one can achieve efficient, authentic
vocalism that results in expressive communication; and the
Integral Artist-Teacher provides information about
my philosophy of learning and teaching. Some free materials (in
PDF format) are provided for downloading.
I sincerely hope you find some helpful information that will
aid you in your quest to lead a balanced, meaningful, productive,
and rewarding life. For more information, click here. |
